My Pondicherry trip was very exciting for me. I heard about Pondicherry, its beauty and the French colony a lot before, on top of that it was going to be the first time I was seeing sea…..

Promenade Beach

We decided to visit Pondicherry in occasion of my birthday; it was just 2 days trip. We took direct night bus from Bangalore and reached there at early in the morning, it was around 9-hour journey.

When we reached Pondicherry, it was around 6 o’clock at the morning and we had a cup of tea and directly went to Promenade beach. It was an amazing feeling which I can’t describe in words. Beautiful sea, sun was rising, fishermen were busy fishing, colorful boats were kept at seaside, and sea waves were touching our feet…. Just amazing!

Spent some time there, done our breakfast at a seaside French café and headed towards the Pondicherry’s Museum and Bharathi Park. In the meantime, we covered Pondicherry light house, French War Memorial and also Mahatma Gandhi Statue.

Though it was a small museum it carries the history of South India beautifully.  A history lover like me would always enjoy seeing such collections.

We took break at Bharathi Park and then arrived at our hotel at White Town. On the way to hotel, we covered Aurobindo Ashram, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple and Raj Niwas. The reason we selected that hotel at white town was most of the visiting places were nearby to that area itself.

Same day evening we visited Chunnambar Boat House and Paradise beach, also known as Plage Paradiso. It is around 8km from Pondicherry.  It is a bit isolated beach. To reach there, we took ferry across the backwater, which took around 20 minutes. The ferry was such a beautiful one, the backwater on the way to the beach was green and had thick mangrove forests. The beach was strikingly beautiful with crystalized blue sea and golden soft sands. With Moderate crowd and serene surrounding, I should say it was a perfect destination for nature lovers.

Next morning we just explored the French and Tamil Colonies. Both the colonies were well maintained. You can see some colorful old buildings in French colony, one of the perfect places for the photography at Pondicherry, I should say.

Then we returned to hotel, pack up our bags and headed toward Auroville beach. It is around 12 km away from Pondicherry. The beach is still a natural place and the sea I felt, was wilder than other areas. Till now there is not much establishment of food stales or restaurants.

Then we returned to Pondicherry and visited the Botanical Garden.  The garden was housed to some exotic rare plants as well as aquarium. There we took a small train ride to explore the garden.

By that time our time was already up for Pondicherry and the return bus was waiting for us. So, we said bye to Pondicherry with a hope inside that we will come back and see her again in future.
